Pure Ice Spring/Summer Colors: Swatches + Review

This post contains press samples.

As I'm writing this it's raining outside, but I much prefer that over snow! The grass is finally starting to perk up and show some color, and I'm happy to see some sunshine again. Just in time for me to start wearing fun summer colors PR for Pure Ice was kind enough to send me three great spring and summer shades to feature for my readers! I have Free Fall, Platinum, and Twinkle to show you today. With some quick googling you can see these colors have been in stores for quite a while now, so you should be able to find them easily if you end up loving one of these polishes!

First up is Free Fall, which in the bottle is a bright fuchsia pink with a distinct purple flash of shimmer. Hot pink with purple shimmer is one of those polish colors that feels like it's been done a hundred times over, but this shade manages to feel fun and summery and not at all tired when worn. I have to admit that this color definitely takes me back to the few times I wore polish as a kid- for some reason I kept wanting it to be scented, or turn the bottle around and say "Bonne Bell". Nostalgia will keep this one in my stash for sure!

On the nail it dries to a semi-matte finish, so be sure to wear top coat for some shine. The coverage was good with one coat, but required two coats to be fully opaque. I didn't have any issues with application and Pure Ice's brush fanned out easily and allowed for a smooth and even finish. The shimmer in Free Fall is perfect; Not overpowering but not too subtle either. For someone who isn't usually attracted to pinks and reds, this ended up being my surprise favorite of the trio.

When I think of platinum I don't think of a pearl, but Pure Ice's Platinum polish is just that; A silvery white pearl finish that in the bottle doesn't appear to be incredibly frosty. The formula during application can be a little on the watery side but if you're an experienced polisher you shouldn't have too much trouble avoiding flooding. The second coat takes on a bit more warmth than the first but this is definitely a full on pearly frost! Platinum is opaque in three coats and definitely feels Sci-Fi futuristic! I kind of feel like I should be wearing a silver jumpsuit and telling someone to raise the shields or something, you know? ...Just me?

I have to admit that out of the three shades I was sent I was most excited to try Twinkle. In the bottle it's a gorgeous orange leaning coral with strong gold shimmer with a bit of a light green flash. Sounds gorgeous right? Well it definitely doesn't disappoint on the nail either! I literally said "Oh my gosh!" when I did the first stroke on my pinky nail. Twinkle is like having a gorgeous sparkly coral reef on your nails! It's jam-packed with rich golden shimmer in a warm base that would look absolutely killer with a tan or on richer skin tones than mine. Because of the massive amounts of shimmer in a creme base, this polish applies a tad patchy and ultimately required three coats to even out.

Pinks and corals are some of my favorite shades to wear in the summer so I'm thrilled to have two more to add to my collection. As for Platinum, I think it'll be fun to work into some summer nail art, and would look awesome with a slight tan even though it's flattering on my pale skin tone right now.

Pure Ice nail polishes can be found at your local Wal-Mart and retails for $1.99! There's a huge range of shades so you'll be sure to find something that fits your tastes and your wallet.

What are your favorite summer polish colors to wear? Which of these three shades are you most drawn to? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading!
